written by Tom King art by Clay Mann & Tomeu Morey
this is what I meant when I said Mann is too sexually repressed to draw women, over all he’s not a terrible artist, not really my style but serviceable for an issue or two but the problem is there will never be any drama, pain, weight, any emotion to any scene he draws with women in it because they’ll always be cartoonishly sexy, look at how distracting harley’s ass is in what’s meant to be a very emotionally vulnerable scene, their outfits literally go inside their asses
this is supposed to be barbara showing off the most traumatic moment of her life but in the first panel she literally looks like a sex doll it, again, removes all meaning from the scene beyond “women sexy”, while other heroes get to talk about their traumas she get’s to be ogled (that’s also much lower then the original gunshot in killing joke and doesn’t really look like it would hit her spine and it’s like higher in the back? really just terrible placement in service of having her pull down her pants)
mann was an incredibly poor choice as an artist for an event that’s supposed to be handling some pretty heavy stuff, I wish he would just jerk off already and get over it
